Hearing Aid Dispensing and Fitting

There are many hearing aids in the industry, and most are available in a wide range of features depending on your individual needs and lifestyle. Our office works with all the major hearing aid brands to give you the most selection. With so many options available, our audiologists will often demo the devices they feel would be the best for you. This gives you the opportunity to test out different hearing aids before making a final decision. In a fitting, hearing aids are personalized based off of the evaluation test results and the needs of the patient. There is still a chance that further programming needs to take place, but only to fine-tune the specifics.

We recommend that you bring along a friend or family member during a fitting. There will be a lot of information to take in, and a lot of questions to be asked or answered. A fitting is the right time to inquire about the new device, future checkups and repairs. Micron Audiology takes great care when helping you choose hearing aids because we want you to love what you’re wearing.

What should patients expect?

One of our audiologists will explain how to use the device. Even if you are familiar with hearing aids, each device is different in its use. Important parts of the fitting include learning how to put in the hearing aid, removal and cleaning. For hearing aids with non-rechargeable batteries, the audiologist will demonstrate how to change the batteries.

When putting in the device for the first time, you will be asked questions about your experience. This is to determine whether further programming is needed. Some light testing may be performed to test hearing effectiveness. Patients should come prepared with questions during the fitting for their audiologist to answer. This is where having a friend or family member present can be helpful, as the extra support can assist you with the new information.

A no-risk hearing aid

Patients shouldn’t talk themselves out of hearing aids due to lack of comfort or fear of operation. Micron Audiology exceeds the state-mandated 30 day trial period for fittings and instead offers a full 75 days. That goes together with a 100-percent, money-back guarantee on all hearing aids during the trial, making this a completely risk-free venture. With this extended trial, you can wear the hearing aids in normal everyday settings to find the optimal match to your specific hearing needs. All of our patients can rest assured that they will get the best support possible from us during this experience.
